Southport shows reality of pirate life

BlackbeardCloseHow do Hollywood pirates match up to the real pirates of the past? Find out in “Myth vs. the Reality of Pirate Life” offered by the North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport on Tuesday, July 17.

The free program, featuring author and historian Jack Fryar, begins at 7 p.m.

“Fryar will go beyond the infamous Blackbeard, and will examine many others who plied through the waters of our region,” said Museum Site Manager Mary Strickland.
