. . . Winners of the 36th annual Wooden Boat Show

Fair winds and sunny skies greeted crowds for the 36th annual Wooden Boat Show this past weekend. More than 5,000 visitors attended the event, watched the sailing races and enjoyed boat rides.
Each year, visitors vote for their favorite boat. The winner of the 2010 People’s Choice Award was “Rememberings” a 17-foot Chris Craft restored by Marion and David Stowe of Farmville.
Additionally, a panel of judges selected winners for more annual awards. 2010 winners included:
- Best Sail – “Sail-A-Bration,” by Christopher Ward of Goldsboro
- Best Inboard Power – “Rememberings,” by Marion and David Stowe of Farmville
- Best Outboard Power – “Quarter Moon,” by Darryl Wiedmann of New Bern
- Best Row – “Missy,” by Bill Huson of New Bern
- Best Paddle – “Snapper – Blue #1,” by Bill Conley of Raleigh
- Best Classic Sail – “Concordia Sloopboat,” by Gary Lowell of Greensboro
- Best Classic Inboard Power – “Sylvia II,” by Bob Simpson of Morehead City
- Best Classic Outboard Power – “Admiral Alexander,” by Cal and Cindy Jordan of Hillsborough
- Best Classic Row – by Vic Fasolino of Beaufort
- Best Classic Paddle – by Vic Fasolino of Beaufort
- Best Up-&-Coming Builder – Bill McLean of Rowland
- Best of Show – “Cumlative Errors,” by Syd Chipman of Lenoir
The Show also featured a Spritsail Skiff race and an All-comers Sail Race. Brent Creelman of Beaufort took first place in the Spritsail Skiff race. And, Al Winters of Wilmington took first place in the All-comers race.
